Description

Made from 100% organic Fairtrade cotton, this breathable sweater is particularly comfortable to wear and is completely vegan.

HIMAL is part of our collection. As we want to avoid overproduction, we have initially produced this item in limited quantities. So get your new favorite sweater now!

If you like this style, then it's meant for you. We believe that everyone can wear our clothes, regardless of gender stereotypes.

Material & Care

100% organic cotton

Finish: fine knit

Pre-washed fabric (to prevent unwanted shrinkage)

Vegan

Tested for harmful substances in accordance with GOTS requirements

To avoid conventional synthetic fibers, we do not use elastane in cuffs and hems, for example. As a result, these areas may stretch slightly during wear and contract again after washing.

We recommend washing this sweater at 30 °C (86 °F) on a gentle cycle and air drying it. We advise against using a tumble dryer. Lower wash temperatures and air drying save energy while also helping to preserve the material and shape.

Sustainability

All MELA textiles are certified according to Fairtrade Cotton, the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), and the Green Button (Grüner Knopf). The three certifications address different points in our supply chain and complement each other in their social and environmental requirements.

Fairtrade Cotton stands for the Fairtrade Minimum Price and Premium for cotton farmers, as well as requirements for labor rights and environmental protection in cotton cultivation.

GOTS sets ecological and social requirements for processing from raw material to finished textile, including standards for chemicals, wastewater, and working conditions.

The Green Button combines production requirements with the verification of our corporate due diligence obligations.

Do you have any further questions? You can find more information on our sustainability page, in our podcast, and in our FAQs.

Production

The sweater is produced by our long-standing manufacturing partners in India. We focus on direct exchange, mutual appreciation, and collaboration as equals. From cotton cultivation to the finished product, our supply chain is traceable and certified according to recognized social and environmental standards.

Very good quality

The fabric is high quality, the bear melange color is subtle and very classy. The fit is good, and the piece looks very nice.

Unforeseen import taxes to Switzerland

They didn’t have the M size in the Swiss shop so i ordered it from the website. The sweater is just fine but there were 30% import taxes that were not communicated in the shopping process.

Hi Mihai,
thank you for your note.

Unfortunately, the shipping costs do not cover Swiss import duties. These are charged directly by customs or the shipping provider. We understand that this can be frustrating and take your feedback on transparency very seriously.

Best regards,
Your MELA Wear Team
