Our socks are free from polyamide and polyester. We do not even use synthetic fibers for the connecting seams, as is otherwise common in sock production. They consist of 97% Fairtrade organic cotton and 3% ROICA™ V550. This elastane fiber provides the necessary elasticity and is Cradle to Cradle Certified® Material Health Gold. An environmental impact assessment by Hohenstein has demonstrated that the material degrades gradually under defined test conditions. Thanks to the hand-linked, extra-flat toe seam, our socks feel pleasantly soft and comfortable on the skin. To reinforce the cotton embroidery, we use a cotton fleece instead of synthetic materials. A small overlap protects the embroidery when trimming without affecting the comfort.
Material & Care
We recommend washing these socks at 30 °C on a gentle cycle and air drying them. We advise against using a tumble dryer. Lower wash temperatures and air drying save energy while also helping to preserve the material and shape.
Sustainability
All MELA textiles are certified according to Fairtrade Cotton, the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), and the Green Button (Grüner Knopf). These three certifications address different points in our supply chain and complement each other in their social and environmental requirements.
